For small homes or apartments typically ranging from 300-1,000 square feet, units between 9,000-18,000 BTUs are generally suitable.

Once you’ve selected your unit, determine its optimal placement. The indoor unit should ideally be mounted on an exterior wall near the ceiling where it can distribute air conditioning repair efficiently across the room. Ensure there’s enough clearance around it—at least six inches above and on either side—to allow for proper airflow and maintenance access.
